Ghost of Tsushima, the PlayStation 4’s fastest-selling new IP first-party title is getting a movie. The director of the game, from developer Sucker Punch Productions, announced today in a PlayStation blog post.
In partnership with Sony Pictures, the movie adaptation will be directed by John Wick director, Chad Stahelski. The cast of the movie has not been revealed neither has the release date been made known yet.
It is no surprise some of the best PlayStation IP is coming to new media. Sony Interactive Entertainment Chief, Jim Ryan called the Uncharted Movie and HBO’s The Last of Us “just the beginning” in January. Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland was set for a 2021 release but has now been pushed till 2022. The Last of Us, also one of the best PlayStation IP is being developed into a tv show starring The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal.
Ghost of Tsushima was nominated in the Game of the Year category last year losing to the outstanding The Last of Us Part II, however, it took home the awards in the Players Voice and the Best Art Direction categories. As of today, the game has sold more than 6.5 million copies and around half of the buyers have completed the story.
Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world adventure game that follows the story of Jin Sakai. Sakai must save his home and people from the invasion of the Mongol armies.
