Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima has broken a new PlayStation 4 record, Sony announced today in a tweet. The Samurai action-adventure game has sold 2.4 million units globally in just three days making it the fastest-selling PS4 new IP ever.
With this record, Ghost of Tsushima has performed better than other first-party PS4 games at launch such as Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn in terms of sales. This, of course, does not include established IPs such as Uncharted, God of War and The Last of Us. However, it’s an incredible achievement for developer Sucker Punch.
Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world action-adventure game which follows the adventure of protagonist Jin Sakai. Sakai must save his home and his people after the invasion of the Mongol armies. The game has a Metacritic rating of 83 compared to that of fellow PS4 first-party title The Last of Us Part II which scores 94.
In a recent development, Sony announced last month The Last of Us Part II was the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever with 3.3 million copies sold within its three days of release.
