Adjudged by many to be the best video game of all time, The Last of Us takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pedro Pascal), one of the remaining survivors is hired to smuggle out a 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a volatile quarantine zone in the United States. HBO’s show plot will follow Joel and Ellie’s struggle from the video game as both face a daunting task ahead escaping an infected and dangerous world.
Pedro Pascal returns to HBO once again after starring as Oberyn Martell in the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones TV show. Pedro’s stock is at an all-time high and he recently portrayed the villain Max Lord, in Wonder Woman 1984. Currently, he stars in Disney+’s hugely popular series The Manadalorian.
In January, Sony Interactive Entertainment boss, Jim Ryan says the upcoming Uncharted movie and HBO’s The Last of Us series are “just the beginning.” Sony plans bigger expansion into new media and we might see some of its video games adapted into series and movies in the future.
