OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are finally here, both phones were announced at a live-streamed event today. The devices replace last year’s flagship, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

The OnePlus 9 features a 6.55” FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The OnePlus 9 Pro has a bigger 6.7” QHD + LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The fluid LTPO display promised up to 50% power savings because the phone is capable of adjusting its refresh rate from 120Hz down to 1Hz based on whatever is being shown on the screen. Both smartphones come with in-display fingerprint scanners.

Both smartphones ship Android 11 out of the box slapped with OxygenOS 11 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 8/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB on UFS 3.1 storage configurations.

One of the biggest features of the new OnePlus flagships is its Hasselblad cameras. The OnePlus 9 has triple camera setup at the back with a 48MP Sony IMX689 sensor, the Sony IMX766 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera. The OnePlus 9 Pro has a quad-camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX789 sensor, the Sony IMX766 50MP ultrawide, 8MP 3.3x telephoto lens, and a 2MP monochrome camera. It has both OIS and EIS but the OnePlus 9 only has the EIS for stabilization. The partnership with Hasselblad means more control over the camera with both phones now capable of shooting 12-bit RAW photos. There is also a dedicated Hasselblad Pro mode on the default camera app. Some other camera features are UltraShot HDR, Portrait mode, Nightscape 2.0, Super Macro, Nightscape video and it the phones can shoot 8K at 30fps and 4k up to 120fps.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro both get 4,500mAh batteries. The OnePlus 9 supports Qi wireless charging at 15W speeds, while the OnePlus 9 Pro supports 50W Wireless charging. Both models have USB-C ports which can charge the battery from 0 to 100% in 30mins thanks to the 65W wired Warp Charging.

The OnePlus 9 will set you back by $729/£629 for its 8/128GB configuration and $829/729 for its 12/256GB configuration. It will be available in Winter Mist, Arctic Sky, and Astral Black colour options. The OnePlus 9 Pro will set you back by $969/£829 for its 8/128GB configuration and $1069/929 for its 12/256GB configuration. It will be available in Morning Mist, Pine Green, and Stellar Black colour options.
