Since the logo was unveiled a while ago, Sony has gradually been trickling out information about the PS5. We know the console is set for a holiday 2020 release but no actual date or price has been revealed. While NBA 2K21 has given a hint on the price of games for next-gen consoles, Sony today revealed what the box art for PS5 games will look like.
The PS5 will be coming in two models, a digital-only version and another version with a CD drive. Those who choose the digital version need not worry about upcoming games box art but those who still love CDs would want to see what a typical PS5 game box art would look like. Sony showcased this with upcoming first-party title Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
“A quick update for our fans – here’s your first look at the box art for PS5 games you’ll be seeing on store shelves this holiday, starring Marvel Super Hero Miles Morales,” reveals Sid Shuman, Senior Director, SIE Content Communications.
Comparing the design with that of the PS4, the differences are not much but they are noticeable. At the front of the box where the PS4 and PlayStation logo are positioned, the background is blue for the PS4 but it is white for the PS5 game box art. The “Only On PlayStation” inscription on the same frame is missing for the PS5 box art but Sony has replaced this with the newly launched PlayStation Studios logo beside the Insomniac Games logo at the bottom right corner of the box.
Every other thing remains the same. As expected, Miles Morales is on the box with his own suit and a more striking spider web. The white frame brings to mind the white colour of the PS5.
