We are only a few weeks from the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us TV show, but the official trailer has been released today during the ongoing Comic Con Experience (CCXP) 2022 in Sau Paulo, Brazil.

The new trailer is more than 2 minutes long and shows a lot of characters fans are expected to see when the series premieres on January 15th, 2023. The trailer shows scenes recognizable from the PlayStation video game, and we get a first look at the characters Henry and Sam.

The Last of Us HBO series is based on Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us video game series. The show is written and executive produced by Emmy award-winning Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann. It stars The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as Joel, while Game of Throne’s Bella Ramsey plays Ellie. Other characters are Nico Parker as Sarah, Storm Reid as Riley, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Nick Offerman as Bill, and Anna Torv plays smuggler Tess.

The Last of Us series picks up the same plot as the video game. Twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed by the outbreak of the Cordyceps virus, Joel is tasked with the responsibility of smuggling 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressed quarantine zone in Boston. At first, what looked like an easy task became a never-ending journey for both.

The first season will have nine episodes, and it will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on January 15th.
