At the end of the Game Awards, Sony’s Naughty Dog unveiled a new sci-fi game and its newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5, titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. According to studio head Neil Druckmann, the game has been in development since 2020 and will be Naughty Dog’s “wildest, most creative story yet.”
According to the description from the YouTube trailer, here is the game’s premise:
“Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”
Jordan A. Mun is played by the talented Tati Gabrielle, who starred in Sony’s Uncharted movie. According to the trailer, the game will feature comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani, who Jordan is meant to hunt down.
The game promises to be the “deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history,” with Druckmann saying the studio is taking lessons from its previous franchises to push Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet beyond the limits of anything it has done before.
No further news or release date was announced, but the studio promised to share more in the future.
