More than two years after announcing that it started work on a new Witcher game, CD Projekt Red has finally revealed a first look at The Witcher 4 during The Game Awards. The Witcher 4 will be a single-player open-world RPG starring Ciri as a protagonist as she embarks on “her own journey to become a professional monster slayer.” In November, the Polish gaming studio announced that the project had entered “full-scale production.”

The cinematic trailer was pre-rendered in Unreal Engine 5 on an unannounced NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU. The trailer focuses on Ciri as the new monster slayer with no sight of Geralt, the protagonist in the original Witcher trilogy.

Speaking to IGN on the choice of Ciri as the protagonist, executive producer of the game Małgorzata Mitręga said, “It was always about her, starting from Saga when you read it in the books.” She added that Ciri is “an amazing, layered character” and confirmed that “as a protagonist, we said goodbye to Geralt previously.”

Apart from the trailer, no other details were released, and we do not know when and what platforms The Witcher 4 will be released for.
