Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red has announced it is working on a new Witcher game. The studio shared a “A new saga begins” teaser with an image that looks like a Witcher medallion on its Twitter page on Monday.

The new instalment in the Witcher series will follow The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which was released in 2015 and is set to get a next-gen update in the first quarter of 2022. In a related update, CD Projekt Red announced it will be moving away from its in-house REDengine to Epic Games Unreal Engine 5 in what will begin a multi-year strategic partnership between the two companies.

CD Projekt Red says the partnership “covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant.” The studio added it will collaborate with Epic Games’ developers “with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.”

No further update was provided about the upcoming Witcher game including a development time frame or release date. The developer will hope the new game will have a better launch than the embattled Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 is powered by the REDengine technology, the same engine which will be also used to power its upcoming expansion.
