CD Projekt Red is Working on a Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Adaptation

Polish gaming studio, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is working on a live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 in partnership with media company, Anonymous Content. Despite having a rough launch, the game recovered, thanks to a series of major updates and patches, and has sold more than 25 million copies to date.

In a press release on Thursday, CDPR said the live-action adaptation project “is at an early development stage and has currently commenced searching for a screenwriter to tell a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.” Anonymous Content, the media company working with CDPR for the project is known for producing series such as Emmy award-winning True Detective and Mr. Robot.

Also known for developing the critically acclaimed The Witcher franchise, the Polish studio announced it has sold more than 100 million copies of games in its lifetime. In just over a week of its release, Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, featuring Idris Elba has sold 3 million copies.

It might be a while before a release date or any related news is revealed, but lovers of Cyberpunk 2077 will be excited to know that the studio is working on a sequel codenamed “Orion”.
