PlayStation 5 owners in the UK can now download the BBC iPlayer to their console starting today. The PS5 already boast media apps such as Netflix, Twitch, Spotify, Apple Music and the arrival of the iPlayer to the console is a welcome addition. Including the Xbox Series X and Series S, the iPlayer is available on more than 15,000 devices.

To use the BBC iPlayer on the PS5, PS5 owners can access it by going to the Media tab on their home screen to download. The iPlayer will be added to the apps library and it can be accessed directly from the home screen.

“PS5 users will be able to watch all the best shows from the BBC, including Showtrial, gripping new drama from the makers of Vigil and Stephen Merchant’s smash hit new comedy The Outlaws, featuring an A-list cast including Christopher Walken,” explains Neil Hall, Head of Product at BBC iPlayer. “They can also enjoy the full boxset of Doctor Who – as this special series Doctor Who: Flux reaches its thrilling conclusion this Sunday, plus they can get back to nature with Sir David Attenborough’s The Mating Game, which will be available to watch on PS5 in spectacular Ultra HD, assuming their TV is UHD-capable.”

Brits will also have the chance to watch the sixth season of the award-winning show Peaky Blinders which launches in early 2022 on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
