Two weeks ago, WhatsApp eased its deadline terms for those who do not accept its new privacy policy, the Facebook-owned company said nothing will happen to such accounts but their functionality will eventually get limited after a while. In a different twist, the company has now come up and said functionality will no longer be limited at all.

In a statement to The Verge, a WhatsApp spokesperson said “given recent discussions with various authorities and privacy experts, we want to make clear that we will not limit the functionality of how WhatsApp works for those who have not yet accepted the update.” The Verge understands WhatsApp is moving forward with this plan indefinitely.

We will continue to remind users from time to time and let them accept the update, including when they choose to use relevant optional features like communicating with a business that is receiving support from Facebook,” WhatsApp said. “We hope this approach reinforces the choice that all users have whether or not they want to interact with a business.”

WhatsApp’s communication for its new privacy policy has been confusing, the company mandated all its users to accept the terms when it first rolled causing concerns it may begin sharing users’ data with Facebook. A lot of its users vowed to stop using the app and planned to move to other similar instant messaging apps. The company was forced to put out another statement saying there had been a misunderstanding and it would not share users’ data with Facebook.
