Ever since WhatsApp introduced stickers a few years ago, the way people interact on the instant messaging platform has become more fun. Stickers allow people to respond to messages without typing out words or sentences, but people can still pass across their messages effectively. On Thursday, the company announced it is now rolling out an update on iOS for people to get more creative with stickers.
The latest update to WhatsApp on iOS introduces a custom sticker maker and the ability to get more creative by adding texts, emojis and even drawings. To create a sticker from an existing image in the gallery, go to the sticker tray in the app and select the “+” icon. Choose an image from the gallery and WhatsApp will add a sticker outline to the image. You can take things further using the edit buttons by adding texts, cutouts and making drawings. The new update also lets users edit existing stickers by long-pressing on them and choosing “edit sticker”.
According to The Verge, the update is only available to devices running iOS 17. Devices running older iOS versions can only edit and not make stickers. The update is not available for Android yet but there is an option to make AI-generated stickers.
