WhatsApp has added the option to have transcripts for voice messages. The feature is handy when you are on the move, in a loud environment, or don’t want to play voice messages.
To transcribe voice messages, go to Settings > Chats > Voice message transcripts; here, you can easily turn on or off the feature and select your preferred transcript language. Once the feature is activated, long-press on your voice messages, and you will see a new ‘transcribe’ option on the pop-up menu. The transcription takes place on the device and is encrypted.
WhatsApp is rolling out voice message transcripts globally “over the coming weeks.” WhatsApp says it will start with a few “select languages,” but it plans to add more languages over the “coming months.” The Meta-owned company recently added the option to have message drafts.
