On Tuesday, Samsung announced the Galaxy S20 lineup and also unveiled the second generation of its earbuds, the Galaxy Buds Plus. The earbuds will be available in black, white and blue colours and will go on sale for $149.
The Galaxy Buds Plus shares a similar design with the first-generation Galaxy Buds but it comes with improved battery life and sound quality. It comes with a battery case which offers 22 hours of extra power while the earbuds itself can last up to 11 hours at a single charge. It comes with a USB-C charging port which supports fast charge.
For better audio, the Galaxy Buds Plus comes with dual dynamic drivers and two new extra microphones have been added to improve voice calls. Overall, it has better audio quality than the original Galaxy Buds. Like Apple’s AirPods with sensor triggers, Samsung has added the same feature to the left earbud which launches Spotify when held down.
One unique feature this year’s Galaxy Buds Plus is having is an active noise cancellation which Apple marketed very well with its AirPods Pro. It is connected by Bluetooth 5.0 and has an IPX2 rating which makes it sweat-proof. Not only are the earbuds Android-compatible, they are also compatible with iOS 10 or later thanks to a dedicated companion app. Samsung’s earbuds also support Qi wireless charging.
