After a teaser at its Unpacked event in January, Samsung has finally unveiled a new addition to its wearables – the Galaxy Ring. The company unveiled the Galaxy Ring at the Mobile World Conference (MWC 2024) and said it “offers users an all-new way to simplify everyday wellness, empowering them with greater insights and more ways to understand themselves day and night.”

Not a lot was revealed about the Galaxy Ring, but The Verge said it will come in three colours – platinum silver, ceramic black, and gold. The device is lighter than it looks, and it is available in sizes 5 – 13, while they are marked as S through XL inside the band.

According to an editorial from Samsung’s VP of Digital Health Dr. Hon Pak, the Galaxy Ring will be integrated with Samsung Health, where different devices and partner solutions are connected, making it easier to track health conditions on the wearable. Data will be collected “through advanced sensor technology” giving users a deeper understanding of their health with “improved insights and integrated third-party health data.”

The Galaxy Ring will bring new features – My Vitality Score and Booster Card to the health app. The Verge points out that My Vitality Score is based on a University of Georgia model that incorporates four factors – sleep, activity, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability.

The Galaxy Ring will only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones, according to Engadget, but Samsung is working on making it compatible with other Android devices later. Nothing is known about iOS compatibility at this time.
