Finnish mobile company, HMD has announced the Nokia 8.1 which succeeds the Nokia 7 Plus. However, this phone is not a new device but a global variant of the Nokia X7. The company changed the name because the product is targeted at markets in America, Europe, and Australia.
The Nokia 8.1 will be part of the Android One program which ensures frequent security updates from Google. Other highlights of this phone include its 6.18-inch Pure Display with HDR10 support and its dual rear camera setup with Zeiss lenses.

Nokia 8.1: Design and Display
The Nokia 8.1 has an aluminium alloy and glass build which gives it a trendy look. It also sports a bar shaped like most flagship devices in the market.
A metal frame which surrounds the phone making the product durable for everyday use. The phone weighs 180g with the battery included.

At the rear panel lies a vertically placed dual camera set-up with a fingerprint sensor beneath the cameras. An LED flash is set on the left of the camera.
Concerning display, the Nokia 8.1 features a 6.18-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen made from Corning® Gorilla® Glass. It has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The notched display also has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 (full view) and a screen to body ratio of 81.55%.

This device has a triple camera setup, i.e. one at the front and two behind. The two cameras at the back consist of a 12MP main sensor with a 13MP secondary camera.
Furthermore, the main camera has a f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel PDAF and also Zeiss optics which can record 4k and 1080p videos at 30fps. At the front of the smartphone, you will find a 20MP selfie snapper with a f/2.0 aperture.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset which has the support of the 10nm FinFET process technology with four cores running at speeds of 2.2GHz. The chipset lies along with an Adreno 616 GPU which helps you enjoy high-resolution gaming.
The Nokia 8.1 has 4GB of RAM and internal storage of 64GB. You can expand the internal storage via the second SIM slot (Hybrid SIM) with a MicroSD card of 400GB.
This phone runs on the recently released Android 9 Pie which will receive regular updates for the next two years.

A modest 3,500mAh battery powers this flagship phone. The battery is not removable and supports fast charging of as much as 18W. It is will also offer as much as 22 hours of talk time, 24 days of standby time and even 11 hours of video playback.
