With the latest Snapchat update, the multimedia mobile and image messaging app now supports group chat. Group chat is nothing new in other messaging app like WhatsApp but this is a step in the right direction by Snapchat.
The new group messaging allows a maximum of 16 people to chat together within a 24 hours period after which messages will get deleted like in the daily stories by different users on the app. Chats sent to a group can only be opened and replaced once by each group recipient.
“The holidays are a great time to hang out with friends and spend time with family – it’s always better together! We couldn’t think of a better time to announce Groups, a new way to communicate with up to 16 friends on Snapchat,” wrote Snap Inc in a blog post
You can create Snap Groups when opening a new chat or sending a new snap. To use Groups other people will have to be involved of course, messages can be saved like in private messaging. Keep in mind, when you do this all the people in the group will see you have saved the message.
The new update is now available in the Android Google Playstore and in the IOS store. This is definitely a major move by the Snapcht Inc in matching its competitors like the WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger apps.
