Taiwanese chipset maker MediaTek has announced two new chipsets – Helio G35 and Helio G25. The chipsets are aimed at gaming smartphones which costs $100 or below.
The Helio G35 has an octa-core processor and is built on a 12nm process, its cores are all Cortex-A53 however which is not as fast as the A55 or the A7X cores. The cores run at a speed of 2.3GHz and it can be paired with a device having up to 6GB RAM of the 1,600MHz LPDDR4x variant. For the internal storage, it can only work with an eMMC 5.1 storage option.

In terms of graphics, its GPU is the regular PowerVR GE8320 running at 680MHz. The CPU, GPU and memory are regulated by MediaTek’s HyperEngine based on its thermal and power draw. In terms of display, it supports a resolution of 1080p+.
The Helio G25 chipset is built on the same 12nm process and has the same cores. However, its speed is much slower at 2.0GHz and the GPU also comes down to 650MHz with PowerVR GE8320. In terms of display, it supports a maximum resolution of 720p+.

Helio G35 can take a maximum of 25MP camera or a dual 13MP+13MP, the G25 comes at 21MP or a dual 13MP+8MP. The camera features are Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction. Cameras on both chipsets can record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Connectivity options are WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio receiver, VoLTE, ViLTE on two 4G connections.
Two devices have been announced with the Helio G35 – Realme C11 and Xiaomi Redmi 9C. The Redmi 9A has also been announced with the Helio G25. The smartphones will be coming out in July and they cost below $100.
