Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on the PS5 on October 20th. The game was revealed in 2021 and recently got an extended gameplay trailer at the PlayStation Showcase event in May. Players can play as Peter Parker and Miles Morales in a battle against many bosses.
On Thursday at the Summer Game Fest 2023, game director Bryan Intihar appeared to deliver the news and showcase the box art for the upcoming title. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a PS5 exclusive, but it will be no surprise if it gets released on the PC in a few years, just like its prequel Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and the spinoff Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales.
During the main storyline of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players can take control of Peter Parker or Miles Morales at different points in the campaign. According to the community director at Insomniac Games, James Stevenson, players can switch “near-instantly” between the two protagonists during open-world gameplay.
One of the villains that fans will enjoy facing off against is Kraven the Hunter. Kraven was revealed during the PlayStation Showcase in May. While speaking at the Summer Game Fest, director Bryan Intihar explained that “Kraven is very different from any character we’ve done” because he has no tech or superpowers. Kraven is “coming to New York for his greatest hunt.”
Pre-orders for the game go live on June 16th, with various editions, including the collector’s edition, up for grabs.
