Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches this fall exclusively on the PlayStation 5, and Sony shared the first-ever gameplay reveal of the upcoming blockbuster at its PlayStation Showcase event on Wednesday. Sony shared two gameplays, one featuring the game’s main villain, Kraven the Hunter, and another with an extended look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Kraven the Hunter appeared discreetly in the first reveal trailer for the game in 2021, but Sony unveiled him properly in a new gameplay trailer on Wednesday. “This version makes his debut appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and he’s in search of an equal,” Sony shared in a PlayStation blog post. “That spells bad news for the inhabitants of Marvel’s New York including a rogue’s gallery of villains and the Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Between the start of Kraven’s Great Hunt and an all-new Symbiote threat to Earth-1048, our heroes have their work cut out for them.”
The main gameplay trailer involving Peter Parker and Miles Morales is 10 mins long and gives an extended look at the duo. Peter Parker is now in a new symbiote suite that gives him new superpowers, while Miles Morales is also playable in his familiar Spidey suits.
Sony’s reveal trailer in 2021 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 confirms Venom will be in the game, but we didn’t get another look at him on Wednesday. Since the game is coming in the fall of 2023, more gameplay trailers will be revealed before its launch. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. Sony remastered the original game for the PS5 and launched Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as a spinoff.
Another game coming from developer Insomniac Games is Marvel’s Wolverine, but nothing was shared more on this at the PlayStation showcase on Wednesday.
