Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game ever, having sold over 2.5 million copies in 24 hours after its release. Sony made the announcement on Monday, saying “thanks for making this a high-flying launch!”
The record was previously held by Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök which sold 5.1 million copies in its first week of release in 2022. Developed by PlayStation’s Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, released in 2018 by the same studio. Marvel’s Spider-Man was also the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game when it was released, having sold over 3.3 million copies in its first three days.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20th with good reviews and currently has a Metacritic score of 90. The game features new mechanics and Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable heroes.
