Sony’s hugely God of War gaming franchise is getting a live-action TV series adaptation, Deadline reports. Amazon Prime Video is in talks for the series and the project is expected to be created by The Expanse creators/executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and The Wheel of Time executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
If the series adaption happens as reported, this would be the second major PlayStation franchise to be snapped up for a live-action series after HBO struck a deal to bring the hugely successful The Last of Us to TV. Starring Kratos and based on Greek mythology from Sony’s Santa Monica Studios, God of War debuted in 2005 on the PlayStation 2. The eighth installment in the franchise, God of War: Ragnarok, is expected to be released this year for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5.
Sony’s Uncharted movie recently came out in the theatres and a Ghost of Tsushima movie, another PlayStation first-party title, is reportedly in the works.
