After the delay to The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR, Sucker Punch’s PS4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima may be the next big release to be delayed. Naughty Dog and Sony cited the COVID-19 pandemic as reason for delaying The Last of Us Part 2 indefinitely and has already pulled plug on its pre-order.
Samurai-themed Ghost of Tsushima is scheduled for a June 26 release date, but that may change very soon according to DualShockers. Reports say a change in release date has been applied to the game on PlayStation Canada website to August 1 but it has now been reverted back to the original date. This could be an indication of what is to come before Sony and Sucker Punch puts out an official announcement.
Since enjoying success with the release of its last game – Infamous: Second Son on PS4, developer Sucker Punch has been working hard to release its next exclusive. Ghost of Tsushima has been heavily teased with trailers and fans are looking forward to playing the game already.
As disappointing as it would be if the game is delayed officially, it will be understandable as the world is battling the Coronavirus pandemic. Sony has tried to offer support with its Play At Home initiative where it made Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for free and also announced a $10m funding for independent game developers.
