Apple announced 3 new iPhones at its September Event yesterday. Starting with the new iPhone 11, Apple says it is the successor to the iPhone XR released last year which has become the most popular smartphone in the world.
Since its Apple’s cheapest iPhone from this year’s lineup, it features a 6.1 LCD display just like last year’s model. Design remains the same with a front-facing notch housing the Face ID camera. Apple, however, added new colour options – black, yellow, red, white, purple and green all available.
Prior to the launch, the designs were leaked and it wasn’t different from what Apple unveiled. iPhone 11 has a dual rear camera – 12MP wide-angle camera and another 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with optical zoom. The biggest changes come from the camera side as Apple included a new immersive interface shows beyond the camera frame on the iPhone 11 screen. This allows users see beyond the frame in case an ultra-wide shot is taken. Additional camera features include new high-key mono portrait effect, portrait mode that works with pets and a multiscale tone mapping that works with highlights differently depending on wherever a photo is taken.

A Night Mode feature has been rumoured just like Google’s Pixel devices and Apple confirmed it with the iPhone 11. Apple’s Night Mode uses adaptive bracketing to improve night shots producing beautiful low-light imagery.
For the first time ever, the front camera is capable of shooting slow-mo videos and Apple demonstrated this with a funny video ad. The front camera is now 12MP TrueDepth with wide-angle support which can be rotated to take landscape selfies. It is also capable of shooting 4k videos at 60fps just like the dual-rear camera system.

In terms of software, the new iPhone launches with Apple’s latest A13 bionic processor which Apple claims is the fastest CPU and GPU in a smartphone. iPhone 11 is water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating, it also has an additional one-hour battery advantage on the iPhone XR.
