WhatsApp is making sending short video messages easier, just like how people send instant voice messages. In a blog post, the company announced instant video messages – a way to “record and share short personal videos directly in the chat.”
Instant video messages up to 60 seconds in length can be shared in real-time to respond to chats. “We think these will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion that comes from video, whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news,” the company shared.
To share a short video message, tap once on the voice message button, and it will switch to a video icon, after which you can hold it to record and send your video. Alternatively, users can swipe up on the video icon to lock and record video hands-free. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the feature in a short video he shared on Facebook.
The feature has begun rolling out and should get to everyone in the “coming weeks.”
