WhatsApp today announced new features to make chats “a little more productive and fun.” The new update, which will be rolling out globally in the coming weeks to all users, improves polls and message forwarding on the platform.
Three new updates are coming to Polls. The new update lets creators set one-time votes on polls by simply turning off the option to ‘allow multiple answers’ when creating a poll. Polls can now easily be found by searching with WhatsApp adding the option to filter messages by polls. To do this, users need to tap ‘Search’ on the ‘Chats’ screen and then ‘Polls’ to find a list of polls. Lastly, for polls, users who made votes will now receive notifications when others vote so they can keep up with the result.
WhatsApp is improving forwarding with captions. When a media with a caption is being forwarded, the user can keep, delete or completely rewrite the text. This applies to photos, videos and when documents are shared between chats.
The update will be available globally on Android, iOS and the web in the coming weeks.
