Rumours of a PlayStation 5 Pro have been circulating for some time now, but a new report has now stated that the console will be revealed “towards the end of September 2024” in a PlayStation State of Play.

Not only do we have a possible release timeline, but well-renowned and prolific leaker Bilbil-kun from Dealabs Magazine also shared a possible illustration of the PS5 Pro. Bilbil-kun claimed to have obtained a visual of the final packaging of the console but could not share it due to copyright reasons. An illustration was however provided.

From what we can see, the design of the PS5 Pro looks very similar to the current PS5 and the PS5 Slim. It has a white colour with two USB-C ports in front and a power button. The visible difference is the presence of the three black stripes in the middle of the outer plate of the PS5 Pro compared to one stripe on the PS5 Slim.

The PS5 Pro is also confirmed to be thicker than the PS5 Slim, although the actual measurement has not been revealed. The visual obtained by the leaker shows a digital-only console without a disc drive. This is reportedly a commercial decision by Sony to reduce costs on the PS5 Pro. While this has not been confirmed officially by Sony, it might be possible to attach a disc drive just like Sony did for the redesigned PS5 models it announced last October.

The PS5 Pro is expected to maintain the same DualSense wireless controller as the PS5 and the PS5 Slim.

According to earlier reports, the PS5 Pro will reportedly have a GPU that is around 45 per cent faster than the PS5. The CPU will also have a new mode targeting 3.85GHz frequency, which is around 10 per cent faster than the standard PS5. While the console is expected to be officially revealed this September, it is expected to hit the shelves in the holiday season.
