Sony on Tuesday announced redesigned PlayStation 5 models that are smaller in size by “more than 30%, and weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models.” The new model which can be regarded unofficially as the “PS5 Slim” has the same “technology features that make the PS5 the best to play,” Sony says.
The redesigned model has a 1TB SSD of internal storage and an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for those who decide to purchase the Digital Edition. The detachable Disc Drive will be sold separately for 79.99 USD | 119.99 EURO | 99.99 GBP | 11,980 JPY and the new PS5 model will be available first in the U.S. this November before a global rollout in the “following months.”

Sone says once the inventory of the current PS5 model is sold out, only this new model will be available in the market.
While a horizontal stand will be included with the new model, Sony will be selling a vertical stand separately for $29.99 and it is compatible with all PS5 models. Custom console covers for the new PS5 model will also be coming in “early 2024.”
