Both chipsets are made with Samsung’s 14nm LPP FinFET process node. Several manufacturers now opt for smaller process modes for their big phones including the Apple A12 Bionic (7nm) and Exynos 9820 (10nm). In this way, 14nm node isn’t particularly new and focuses on more affordable devices.

In terms of CPU configuration, Snapdragon 660 has eight kryo cores divided into two units of efficiency and performance.

Qualcomm chipsets come with eight Kryo 360 cores based on ARM Cortex A75 CPUs. Qualcomm promises improved task sharing capacities among its cores. In terms of the GPU, Snapdragon 660 houses the mid-range Adreno 512 GPU. It renders pure graphics efficiently with API support such as Vulkan 1.0 and OpenGL ES.

On the other hand, the Exynos 7904 uses the Cortex platform architecture and a 2+6 core configuration. This implies that the chipset has two 1.8GHz and six 1.6GHz. The Exynos 7904 supports Vulak 1.0 API.

Exynos 7904 supports up to 32 single lens setup or a dual 16MP lens. It can even take up a triple camera setup.

The Snapdragon 660 supports single lenses up to 25 megapixel and dual camera setup up to 16MP. Also, the chipset captures very clear images, less noise, and faster autofocus with accurate colour production.

Charging Technique

Snapdragon 660 features Quick Charge 4.0 which promises faster charge time and better battery efficiency. This technique can get you five hours or more when charged in five minutes.

Samsung didn’t tell us how much efficient Exynos has become, but agrees it’s faster too.

Artificial Intelligence

As a respectable processor, Snapdragon 660 has some unique features of which AI is one. The processor supports Qualcomm Neural Processing Engine SDK. It works with other AI frameworks like Google’s TensorFlow and Caffe/Caffe2.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t divulged information regarding AI integration with the Exynos 7904.

Both processors may be mid-range chipsets, but the Snapdragon 660 is the better of the two when it comes to performance. We are yet to have some information regarding the Exynos processor. Until Samsung give us those details, we will go with the Snapdragon 660.
