The PS5 is scheduled for a holiday 2020 release but we’ve not seen much about the device. So far, Sony has held a deep dive detailing the next-gen console’s hardware specifications and it has also unveiled its controller, the DualSense. The Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM) may have given us the biggest hint yet on when Sony is making the next major announcement.
The latest edition of the Magazine in its digital format was tweeted by a user @Tidux and it was accompanied with a message “The next gen starts next issue as we reveal the latest games coming to PlayStation 5, and how they will play.” This is the July issue of the Magazine and its physical copies will go on sale June 2nd. The digital copies will be fully available a few days before suggesting Sony has a big PS5 event slated for May.
Microsoft is also expected to reveal more about its Xbox Series X in May and CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is already confirmed to be coming to the next generation console which is also slated for a holiday 2020 release. Xbox Chief, Phil Spencer appeared to confirm this when he responded to a fan’s tweet saying the “next step is not too much of a wait.”
It is not possible that the Official PlayStation Magazine will be the first to publish about the big event or the series of games coming to the PS5 and it is expected Sony will be making the announcement about the games before the physical copies of the July issue is released.
Sony had already announced it would be skipping the E3 2020 for the second year in a roll even before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It is expected Sony already has its own schedule and timeline to reveal more about the upcoming PlayStation 5.
