Hideo Kojima is working on a new horror game that will be published by Xbox Game Studios called OD. The game was announced at the 2023 Game Awards with a teaser trailer. Last year’s Game Awards saw the announcement of Death Stranding 2 for the PS5 but nothing else was revealed about the title at this year’s event.
The new horror game OD already has a stellar lineup cast, featuring Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer. Comedian Jordan Peele appeared with Kojima at the Game Awards and the two are said to be working together on the cinematic horror game. In a press release, Kojima Production describes OD as a project that “explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear – while blurring the boundaries of gaming and film.”
In the 90-second trailer for OD, closeup shots of actors are shown reciting poems looking seemingly uncomfortable. As the trailer ends, a reflection of an opening door appears on Sophia Lillis’s eyeballs, and it’s accompanied by a creaking sound to compound the fear.
“We are working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game – or rather, a new form of media,” said Hideo Kojima in a statement.
There is no release date on any further news on the project.
