The Google app today joined the other Google owned apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Fit in adding a dark mode. The update is available on both the Android and iOS app starting today.
By default, the app turns on its dark mode if your device’s system settings is already on dark mode on Android 10 and iOS 13, same way WhatsApp dark mode works on iOS. For older operating systems, users have the option to turn on and off the dark mode in the Google app system setting.
The update is gradually rolling out and should get to all users later this week. Google Maps is yet to adopt dark mode but it won’t be long since Google is gradually adding it to all its apps.
Dark mode has been widely embraced by tech companies with YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook all adopting the system.
This is a great update from Google.
