Apple’s Siri has been adjudged the frontrunner for mobile voice assistants. With a market share of 46%, Siri surpassed Google’s Assistant and all other mobile assistants. This is a surprising feat as it is widely known that Android smartphones have a wider reach than their iOS counterparts.
image: StatistaAdditionally, Siri has often been billed as a second-rate assistant in terms of ability and user experience. However, Silicon Valley tech giant, Google, have found it hard to build considerable public attention about Siri’s rival: Google Assistant.
Particularly, the voice assistant from Google is on 400 million Android devices; while Apple’s first-to-market approach has seemingly made it tough for other voice assistants to catch up with Siri.
Interestingly, Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana have gained respectable rankings despite none of them being integrated for smartphones.
Alexa has a 10% market share which is possible via the people using the app to gain access to Amazon Echo.
Meanwhile, Cortana has made its way through the Google Playstore, and can now be bought on the Google mobile store platform. Google Assistant may find itself shrinking fast if Cortana gains more public attention. But for now, Siri is the forerunner.
