YouTube is lowering the required terms for creators to be eligible for monetization. On Tuesday, the company announced changes to its YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Under the new terms, creators with 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and 3000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views will be eligible to apply for YPP.

Previously, creators needed 1000 subscribers, 4000 watch hours or 10 million Shorts views to be eligible. Creators that meet the new requirements will also have access to fan monetization features such as channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. They will also be able to promote their products with YouTube Shopping.

YouTube is rolling out the new terms for creators in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea before its wide rollout to all eligible countries.

In a related update, US-based creators with over 20,000 subscribers can now participate in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program. With YouTube’s affiliate program, creators can feature products from brands and other creators to be eligible for commission from sales.

YouTube is not the only video-sharing platform that lowered its monetization requirements for creators. Earlier in June, TikTok said creators at least 18 years of age with 10,000 followers could use Series, its video paywall feature. Creators with 1,000 followers who have met other requirements can also use the feature.
