Chinese OEM, Xiaomi will be launching its own Pinecone processor on February 28, in a move joining the likes of Apple, Samsung and Huawei. The soon to be released Xiamoi Mi 5c is said to be the phone that will debut the Pinecone chipset. Reports say Xiaomi will be not be attending the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but the Pinecone processor will be unveiled at a tradeshow.
This move suggests Xiaomi will be parting ways with Qualcomm, which its smartphone devices have always ran on. Xiaomi will no longer have to wait to get premium chipsets because of competition from other OEMs. This will also be cost effective for them.
