Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship device, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Taking a cue from Oppo Find X, the dual front camera (24MP + 24MP) is hidden and displayed by a sliding mechanism, unlike the Find X whose rear camera relies automatically on a motor sensor.
The latest flagship features a stunning ceramic build and is available in 3 different colours: Jade Green, Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip with a RAM up to 10GB; same as seen in the recently announced Black Shark Helo.
Being able to hide the front cameras, the front slider allows a maximum full-screen display with the screen coming a 6.39. inch with a full HD resolution of 2340X1080 pixels. It features Samsung’s AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and practically no bezels allowing for a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio.
Not only does the front slider hides its dual-front camera, but it can also be customized to work with different applications and used to answer calls. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 features 12MP + 12MP rear dual cameras with various features such as multi-frame noise reduction, AI light metering, AI image stabilization and calibration. It’s capable of shooting videos in 4K resolution and 960 fps slow-mo video recording. Claimed by Xiaomi as its best phone yet for low-light photography, it boasts a 108 Dx0Mark photo score which is good for photography.
There is a dedicated A1 button at the left side of the phone which can be used to control Xiao Ai voice assistant. The headphone jack has also been avoided on this device
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will be shipping with a 10W wireless charge and will go on sale in China from November 1st. The 6GB + 128GB variant will be selling for RMB 3,299, 8GB + 128GB for RMB 3,599 and 8GB + 256GB for RMB 3,999. There is a Palace Museum Edition with 10GB RAM and 256GB internal storage priced at RMB 4,999. Availability in other markets will be announced soon.
