Union bank is 100 years old and the bank is organizing an art challenge which encourages artists to remake their iconic stallion logo for big prizes. In partnership with the Guild of Professional Artists of Nigeria and One Draw, the completion is open to all undergraduates and professional artists in the country. Registrations has commenced today and entries will start flying in from the 1st of July for the Union Bank Centenary Art Challenge.
What you must know about Union Bank Centenary Art Challenge
The iconic stallion can be recreated in three formats – Painting, Sculpture and Mixed Media. The painting should measure 24 x 30 inches exactly in size while sculptural representation and Mixed Media should not be higher than 24 inches in height while.
There are 3 stages involved in the Union Bank Centenary Art Challenge.
- Stage 1 – 200 deserving entries will be chosen from the nationwide pool. Successful applicants will deliver life-size artworks which must be delivered to submission centres closest to them on or before the 17th of July. Centres spread across Lagos, PH, Benin, Uyo, Kano and Abuja.
- Stage 2 – Only 100 entries will be picked out of the initial 200 by the pool of judges. Chosen applicants will receive notifications and necessary information by SMS and email alerts. The chosen 100 will be awarded N50,000 each a certificate of participation form Union Bank.
- Stage 3 – Applicants which their entries do not make it to the last stage will be notified to pick up their artworks from the various submission centres on or before the 28th of July. Winners will now be announced in the professional and student categories, two runners-up will also be picked in the professional category.
The winner from the pro category goes home with 1 million naira. Student winner gets N250,000. First runner up goes home with N500,000 while the second runner up wins N250, 000
