Twitter is testing “Professional Profiles”, a new tool designed for businesses, non-profits, publishers or anyone who uses Twitter for work. Twitter Business account shared the update and Twitter is only starting with a select few businesses in the US for now.
The Professional Profile is similar to what Facebook does and what it has on Instagram and WhatsApp. Businesses or brands on Instagram have businesses accounts which distinguishes them from a regular account. Business accounts on Facebook can provide more information such as direct contact, email and directions.
In the announcement made by Twitter Business, the business profile shown contains a separate “About” tab beneath what every Twitter account have which shows “Get Directions” and “Contact”. This can help customers get specific and direct information about such businesses.
Twitter’s Product Lead, Kayvon Beykpour said there is a lot more to come and “businesses will soon be able to distinguish themselves on Twitter with distinct attributes on their profile.”
Twitter is still testing the tool and says it will give more accounts access to Professional Profiles “in the coming months.”
