TikTok is rolling out longer videos up to three minutes for everyone, the ByteDance-owned company began testing the feature in December among select creators. Creators in niches such as cooking, beauty tutorials and educational lessons normally post multi-part videos together to complete their contents but TikTok is hoping to provide more flexibility with the roll out.
“Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out the option to create longer videos to everyone on TikTok,” the company announced. “Giving our global community the flexibility to film, upload, and edit videos up to three minutes in length directly within TikTok. Once ready, you’ll get a notification that longer videos are now part of your creative toolbox.”
“With all the ways our community has redefined expression in under 60 seconds, we’re excited to see how people continue to entertain and inspire with a few more seconds – and a world of creative possibilities,” TikTok said.
The three minutes option provides more flexibility but it will be interesting to see how the community adjusts to the change since most are already used to the 60-second limit.
