It’s only taken a few hours since TikTok went offline in the US, but the company has now released a statement saying, “it is in the process of restoring service.” In a statement on X on Sunday afternoon, the company thanked President-elect Donald Trump and promised to work together on a “long-term solution.”
The app is gradually being restored for US users, and it is now displaying a new “Welcome back!” message. The entire message reads:
“Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.! You can continue to create, share and discover all the things you love on TikTok.”
On Sunday morning, Trump shared on his Truth Social network that he is prepared to make a deal to keep TikTok running in the US. Trump proposed a 50 per cent joint ownership of TikTok with the US to protect the national security of Americans.

“I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark!” Trump shared on Truth Social. “I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security. The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order.”
Currently, TikTok is not back on Google Play or Apple Store, and all other apps owned by ByteDance, such as CapCut and Marvel Snap, have yet to be restored in the US.
