Netflix released its statistics of the most popular series, films and documentaries in the United States for the year 2019 and it is really impressive to see The Witcher on the list. Thanks to its popularity on the streaming platform, this has led to incredibly more gameplay time for The Witcher 3 game on Twitch and Steam.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in May 2015 on the PS4, Xbox One, PC and it was later made available on Nintendo Switch this year October. The game is a single-player and it is said to be one of the best games of the decade by many. According to Kotaku, the game set a new active player count record on Steam with 94,000 people playing the game yesterday. This is a 93 per cent bump from the previous month.
On Twitch, where gamers stream to live audiences, Twitchmetrics reported The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recorded a peak 31,000 viewers this last week, a stark contrast considering the game was only averaging 400 viewers a day back in October. Going by these statistics, the game is the 63rd most popular on Twitch for the month of December and the 45th most streamed.
Just like the game, the series on Netflix is based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. It stars Henry Cavill popularly known as Superman playing lead character, Geralt of Rivia.
Not only has the series made The Witcher game more popular, its “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” song which was sung by the barb Jaskier at the end of the second episode has also become a hit. A search on YouTube will show you this. What’s more baffling is that Netflix has not made the soundtrack available officially on streaming platforms like Apple Music or Spotify considering how catchy and popular the song has been.
