The Last of Us Part II is now the most awarded game ever. Naughty Dog’s action-adventure game surpasses CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which has held the record for more than five years.

Reddit user australiughhh spotted the milestone with The Last of Us Part II now having bagged 261 awards in 2020 according to gameawards.net. The website tracks game awards from both media outlets and reader’s choice. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has the record since 2015 having bagged 260 awards in total.

The Last of Us Part II had already won 2020’s Game of the Year and the new milestone is no doubt an impressive achievement. In contrast against other Game of the year winners, 2018’s God of War garnered a total of 208 awards while 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild got 223 awards.

With the PlayStation 5 now out, it would be interesting to see the next project Naughty Dog is working on.
