Spotify is adding video support for its podcasts, the company announced on Tuesday. Listeners who enjoy podcasts from their favourite creators will now have the opportunity to see them. The new video podcast feature will only be available on select podcasts for now in all markets where podcasts are supported.
Free and Premium subscribers will be able to connect deeply with their favourite creators. For now, the podcasts supporting video are Book of Basketball 2.0, Fantasy Footballers, The Misfits Podcast, H3 Podcast, The Morning Toast, Higher Learning with Van Lathan & Rachel Lindsay, and The Rooster Teeth Podcast. It is expected to be rolled out to more soon.
The videos will automatically sync with the audio feed and users can start watching when they press play on their desktop or mobile app. If you want to multitask or do other things on your device, the audio of the podcast will continue playing in the background. Podcast audios can also be downloaded to your device so you can listen anywhere at any time.

The new video podcast feature makes Spotify a strong competitor to YouTube and it also gives creators more flexibility to engage with a wider audience.
