Sony’s next State of Play livestream event will take place on Thursday, July. The focus on the event will be on Arkane Studious’ Deathloop and “some exciting indie and third-party titles,” Sony said.

Deathloop is scheduled to be released on 14th September, 2021 after a couple of delays and it will be a PS5 console exclusive for the first year but it will also arrive on PC. Sony had an agreement with parent company Bethesda to make the game a PS5 exclusive for a year period before the company was acquired by Microsoft earlier this year.

The State of Play event will begin 2PM PT/ 5PM ET on July 8 and it will be live-streamed on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels. Sony is promising an extended nine-minute gameplay sequence where we will “see Colt use his abilities to stealthily skulk across rooftops… or go in guns blazing to create a whole lot of mayhem.”

The rest of the 30 minutes event will see updates from indie developers and third-party studios.

Fans had been speculating online Sony’s next event will be to showcase the God of War sequel after the company skipped this year’s E3 event. Sony says that will not be happening on Thursday, neither will we see updates on the next-gen PlayStation VR hardware or on Horizon Forbidden West.

It may not be long before the fans get what they want as Sony says “stay tuned throughout the summer though, as we’ll have more updates soon.”
