Advertisers in Nigeria can now pay for Facebook adverts in Naira. Facebook’s Chief Product Officer, Mr. Chris Cox, revealed this on Monday in an interactive session at the Social Media Week in Lagos. He said Zuckerberg’s visits to Nigeria last year prompted this move as many entrepreneurs quizzed him on paying for Facebook’s adverts and services in local currency.
“In response, Facebook has started accepting locally issued Nigerian Naira cards from new advertisers for payments on its ads platform.
“With 8.6 million people in Nigeria using Facebook on mobile every day, Facebook is a great place for businesses to reach their customers and market their products and services.
“We are listening to our community of partners, developers, advertisers and content creators to understand what we can build to best serve their needs.”
Mr Cox further stated that starting from March 8, Facebook would start a series of free training sessions called ‘Boost Your Business’ for advertisers and stakeholders. The training sessions would take place in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
