Popularly acclaimed as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Shawn Corey Carter who goes under the Pseudonym Jay Z has made a return to music streaming service Spotify on his 50th birthday. In a tweet, Spotify wrote, “Happy birthday Hov, Welcome back to Spotify”.

Apple Music and Spotify remain the biggest music streaming platforms in the world but Jay Z acquired streaming service, Tidal in 2015 to serve as competitors to the two giants. Hov’s solo efforts were subsequently removed in April 2017 from Apple Music and Spotify “at the request of the artist” according to Spotify but it was swiftly added back to Apple Music.

There is no official confirmation as to why his music catalog has been restored to Spotify but that certainly means more revenue for the rapper turned business mogul.

All we can say is, welcome back Hov and happy 50th birthday!
