Facebook may have the largest audience among all the social networks but it certainly isn’t what it used to be, more people are moving away and joining its fast-growing sister company, Instagram. Instagram started as a photo sharing platform alone but has now evolved and the community has grown big. Amongst its many features is the Snapchat-inspired Stories which lets people express themselves and share real-time moments in their lives. Today, Instagram is introducing Close Friends, a new feature which lets you share Stories alone to a limited group of people.
Instagram has become a good tool for creeps to stalk their would-be preys and Stories is not left out. Instagram Close Friends gives you more power and control over who sees your personal moments. Look a Close Friends like your inner circle, a certain group of people who are “privileged” to really know who you are.
How to Use Instagram Close Friends Feature
Starting from today, Instagram Close Friends is rolling out globally and is available on iOS and Android. Go to the App Store or Google Play and download the latest version, you may have to wait for a day or two if it has not yet been rolled out to your region.
- Go to your Instagram profile and tap on “Close Friends” in the side menu.
- Your Instagram Close Friends list will be empty and you can start adding people to that list.
When you want to share a Story, you will see the option to share with those on your Close Friends list. The privacy option has also been made that only you can see your close friends list and no one can request to be added.
A green badge will be shown when viewing the Stories of someone you are on their list, a circular ring will also be shown on their profile icon.
Instagram understands it’s becoming a very large community and recently rolled out machine learning tools to tackle fake likes and comments.
