Google Search on Desktop Gets Dark Mode

google search desktop dark mode

Google is officially rolling out dark mode for Search on Desktop. According to an update from a Product Search Manager at Google, the feature should reach all users “over the next few weeks.”

After rolling out the feature to its Android and iOS app last year, it was only a matter of time before Google added a dark mode to its Search on the desktop. To activate the dark theme, go to “Settings” at the top-right, select Search Settings > Appearance, from this menu, you have three options – dark theme, light theme and device default. Choosing a dark theme means Search will automatically be on dark mode while the “device default” will mirror your computer’s default setting.

9to5Google notes some users have been getting a sun icon that allows them to toggle on/off the dark theme, but Google has not said anything officially if it will be adding this quick toggle button.
