There have been images of the yet to be released Google Pixel 3 XL leaked on social media over the week. A user named “dr. guru” posted the pictures on XDA Developers forum.
The images show that the Pixel 3 XL’s design isn’t a massive upgrade from Pixel 2 and 2 XL. There are many similarities shared among them. The camera design remains the same plus the fingerprint reader is mounted at the back like the others. The edges share similar rounded corners that were featured in Pixel 2 and 2 XL.
There is a clear difference in how the front side of the phone looks though, it’s bigger than its predecessors’.
The bottom part is almost bezeless. This is quite becoming a trend in the smartphone world. The OnePlus 6 and Oppo Find X also feature an almost bezeless bottom. It appears that the phone is going to feature 2 front-facing stereo speakers which were the same with Pixel 2.
The Pixel 3 might be the finer version of its big brother after all. If the picture is to be reckoned with, it should have the top and bottom bezels even though they look like they’ll be smaller than Pixel 2’s. It appears that Google is switching to an all-glass rear body as opposed to a largely dominant aluminium rear body with a glass window featured in the Pixel 2.
The leak also suggests that there might be different variants of the phone. A previous leak suggested 4GB RAM with 128GB version while the latest leak suggests 64GB of storage.
Anything is bound to change at any time though because we are not sure if this is just a prototype or it is the final design. We’ll find out at the launch which is rumoured to be in October. However, if these are the real designs, then a bezeless, all-screen phone would have to wait.
